Eindhoven

After a long thought I decided to write on a place this time . The place to be visited is Eindhoven.Once I thought of this name the words that came out of my mouth is PSV Eindhoven a renowned Football Club in the Europe and the Dutch League.

Eindhoven is one of the largest cities of The Netherlands located in the province of Noord Brabant ( North Brabant ) . Lets see some details on The Netherlands / Holland first.

Eindhoven - name literally translates to "End Yards" . The Industrial revolution brought out various developments into the city - infrastructure wise . The main industries at that time was textile and tobacco . But this shifted to focus on electronics and lighting industries owing to the start of light bulb manufacturing industry by Philips . In 20th century it changed to automobile due to the Van Doorne's Automobile Fabriek.

There are lots of places to visit and shop in the city . Witte Dame Complex & Admirant Buildings ,which are the former offices of Philips ; Van Abbe Museum - a museum for modern art ; Effenar - a music / cultural center ; Evoluon - a science museum sponsored by Philips ; Park heater Eindhoven - a stage for opera , ballet etc - are some of the important places to watch .

Eindhoven University of Technology is one of the renowned educational center in Holland .

PSV Eindhoven and FC Eindhoven are major Football Clubs that play 1st division , have their base in this city.It is also famous for various hockey clubs in Holland . Some of the renowned swimmers also train out in Eindhoven like Peter Van Hoogenband.

79th Academy Awards

Yesterday the 79th Academy Awards ceremony was held at Kodak Theatre , Hollywood.

The winners of this edition are as follows :

2. Best Foreign Film - The Lives of Others
3. Best Documentary Feature - An Inconvenient Truth
4. Best Animated Film - Happy Feet
5. Best Actor - Forest Whitaker , for his role in The Last King of Scotland as Idi Amin
6. Best Actress - Helen Miren,for her role in The Queen as Queen Elizabeth II
7. Best Supporting Actor - Alan Arkin , for Little Miss Sunshine
8. Best Supporting Actress - Jenifer Hudson , for Dream Girls
9. Best Original Screenplay - Little Miss Sunshine
10. Best Adapted Screenplay - The Departed
11. Best Director - Martin Scorsese , for The Departed
